The South African Local Government Association (SALGA) Gauteng Audit Awards took place on July 5, 2024, at the Garden Boutique Hotel in north-west Johannesburg. This prestigious event celebrated Gauteng municipalities for their outstanding financial management and adherence to governance standards. MaxProf proudly sponsored R15,000 prize money for the winners of the Most Improved Audit Outcome for the 2023/24 period, which went to Rand West City Local Municipality. The awards recognized various municipalities for their achievements:
- The City of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality stood out by winning awards for reducing unauthorized, irregular, fruitless, and wasteful expenditures and for implementing effective consequence management strategies in the 2023/24 financial year. - The City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality received accolades, including recognition for a 21% reduction in unauthorized expenditures. The municipality was praised for its efforts in improving revenue collection and debt management, demonstrating a strong commitment to financial responsibility and ethical governance. - Midvaal Local Municipality emerged as the biggest winner of the evening, securing multiple awards, including those for excellent financial management and governance.
