MaxProf and EST-Sourcing Bursary Program: Empowering Students in Nketoana Local Municipality

A Lifeline Handed to Students in Nketoana Local Municipality

In the latter half of 2024, MaxProf and EST-Sourcing, in partnership with the Nketoana Local Municipality, identified two exceptionally talented students who would benefit from the bursary program. On June 27, 2024, they co-hosted a bursary award ceremony in Reitz to inspire positive change and promote community development.

Empowering Future Leaders Through Bursaries

Two bursaries, each totaling R25,000, were awarded to the following students:

  • Paballo Motaung, a recent graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry & Genetics from the University of Free State.
  • Kamohelo Makhalemele, who is on track to complete his Bachelor of Science in Statistics & Economics at the University of Free State by the end of 2024.

Inspiring Words from the Recipients

Kamohelo expressed his gratitude and shared his journey, highlighting the inspiration and support he received from his mother, a domestic worker. Despite her modest income, she motivated him to pursue his dreams and excel academically. Kamohelo praised MaxProf and EST-Sourcing for their support,

stating, “This opportunity has significantly advanced my journey beyond the University of Free State.” He emphasized his intention to pay this kindness forward to future students within the Nketoana Local Municipality.

Paballo also shared her story, stating that receiving the bursary felt like a lifeline. The financial assistance enabled her to access her degree certificate, which was being withheld due to unpaid fees, thereby allowing her to pursue job opportunities and further her career aspirations.

Andiswa Matutu, Director of MaxProf, congratulated both students and expressed her pride in seeing the youth of the  Nketoana Local Municipality actively pursuing positive endeavours. She urged Paballo and Kamohelo to remain comitted to building a strong foundation for their future careers and life goals.

The bursary ceremony concluded on a high note, with everyone in attendance reaffirming the importance of community development and collaboration. The collective efforts of MaxProf, EST-Sourcing, the Nketoana Local Municipality, and the University of Free State showcased how partnerships can drive positive change in the community.

Councillor Koos Mofokeng, from Ward 7 in Reitz, also showed his unwavering support for Kamohelo and Paballo. He pledged to assist them in maintaining their motivation and ensuring they continue to excel in their respective fields, demonstrating his dedication to the Nketoana community and its members.
