MaxProf and EST-Sourcing: Pioneering Educational Support in the John Taolo Gaetsewe District

On 20 August 2024, MaxProf and EST-Sourcing, in partnership with the John Taolo Gaetsewe District Municipality (JTGDM) and Joe Morolong Local Municipality, hosted a ground-breaking bursary award ceremony in Kuruman, Northern Cape. This event showcased the power of collaboration between local government and private sector partners to uplift communities, particularly in a region where 80% of the population resides in villages.

The ceremony aimed to empower local students by providing them with the financial means to pursue their academic dreams. Representatives from Northern Cape Rural TVET College, with branches in Kathu and Kuruman, were present to support the initiative. Several bursary recipients are enrolled at this institution, emphasizing the importance of local collaboration in fostering educational development.

Long-Standing Commitment to Education

MaxProf’s sustained investment in the district reflects its dedication to education. Since the inception of the initiative, the company has provided bursaries totalling R217,000. In the 2024 academic year alone, R107,000 was awarded:

  • R60,100 was allocated to four students from Northern Cape Rural TVET College, all residents of JTGDM.
  • R46,900 was granted to two students from Joe Morolong Local Municipality who are studying at Sol Plaatje University.

This initiative builds on MaxProf’s previous contributions, which included R44,100 for 13 students at JTGDM in 2021/22 and R66,000 for two students in Joe Morolong Local Municipality in 2023.

Voice of Gratitude

Mrs. Tshegofatso Gabotlhaelwe, a student support officer at NCR TVET College, extended her heartfelt thanks to MaxProf and EST-Sourcing for their resolute commitment to reinvesting in local communities and educational institutions.

Elvira Ross, a bursary recipient and student at NCR TVET College, shared how the financial support would alleviate the stress of paying tuition fees, allowing her to fully focus on her studies and approach her exams with confidence. She expressed profound gratitude for the opportunity, emphasizing its life-changing impact.

Words of Encouragement

In her address, JTGDM Executive Mayor, Cllr. Pulane Mogatle Thoane invoked the timeless wisdom of Sir Francis Bacon: “Knowledge is power.” She stressed the vital importance of education in an era shaped by digital innovation and globalisation.

Mayor Thoane shared personal anecdotes of past generations’ sacrifices to access education, emphasizing the value of determination and hard work. She urged students to set goals, make the most of available opportunities, and strive for excellence, reminding them that they are the future leaders of the community.

Building a Legacy of Hope

This event represented more than just financial assistance; it symbolised the shared vision of creating a brighter, more prosperous future for the youth of the district. The unwavering support of MaxProf and EST-Sourcing demonstrates the transformative potential of unity, collaboration, and a steadfast commitment to education.

As Mayor Thoane expressed her gratitude to these organisations, she reinforced the idea that by empowering students today, we ensure a stronger and more vibrant tomorrow for the entire community.
