MaxProf Uplifts Merafong Students with Bursaries and Laptops

Introduction

In this article, we highlight how MaxProf has significantly uplifted Merafong City students by awarding bursaries and laptops worth R72,769. In collaboration with EST-Sourcing and Merafong City Local Municipality, MaxProf supported five deserving students in Gauteng, continuing their 2023 initiative to foster inclusivity in the community. MaxProf reinvests a portion of its earnings from VAT and tax optimization services for Merafong City Local Municipality back into the community. In March 2023, they awarded R75,869 in bursaries to 10 students at Western TVET College.

Update for 2024

In May 2024, the Merafong City Local Municipality celebrated as five students received bursaries totalling R46,779 and laptops valued at R25,990. The recipients, studying at Western TVET College (Carletonville Campus), are:

  • Keitumetse Mogaki
  • Lindokhule Khumalo
  • Lerato Modiba
  • Mpokeleng Majoro
  • Khotso Seleke

A Word from Western TVET College

Mrs. Maphauphau, a representative from Western TVET College, expressed gratitude to MaxProf and EST-Sourcing. She motivated the students, emphasizing that their skills can drive significant change, innovation, and leadership in Merafong City Local Municipality. Mrs. Maphauphau highlighted the bursaries as a testament to the students’ hard work and dedication, encouraging them to maximize the opportunities and become future leaders within their community.

Address by EST-Sourcing CEO

EST-Sourcing CEO Renusha Ramdas highlighted the crucial role of education in societal advancement. She emphasized that supporting students, including those with disabilities, aligns with MaxProf and EST-Sourcing’s commitment to creating an inclusive society. Providing educational opportunities regardless of students’ abilities is a core value for both organizations.

Remarks by MMC Ernest Tibane

MMC Ernest Tibane, representing the Executive Mayor, shared his personal experience as a WestCol TVET College alumnus. He discussed the significance of financial support in education, drawing from his understanding of the challenges faced by students, especially those not funded by NSFAS. MMC Tibane praised MaxProf and EST-Sourcing for their support and encouraged extending such initiatives beyond the local level to have a provincial and national impact.
